ALFRED, Maine — The woman suspected by police of running a prostitution operation out of her Zumba studio and High Street office space in Kennebunk has been indicted in York County Superior Court on 106 counts, including prostitution, tax evasion and violation of privacy.
Alexis S. Wright, 29, of 32 Baird Lane, Wells, was indicted Wednesday after a months-long investigation involving many agencies, including the Kennebunk Police Department, attorney general's office and district attorney's office, into activities at the Pura Vida Studio on York Street and an office space on High Street, both in Kennebunk.
Also indicted Wednesday, on 59 counts, was Mark Strong, 57, of 53 Knox St., Thomaston, who was originally charged in July with promoting prostitution.
Wright is facing three felony charges, along with numerous misdemeanors, while all the counts against Strong are misdemeanors. An indictment is not an indication of guilt, but a finding that there is enough evidence to move forward with prosecution.
