Hurricane Sandy preps under way in NH

NH Homeland Security director: 'We want people getting ready now'

MANCHESTER, N.H. — Emergency responders are encouraging New Englanders to start preparing for a possible Hurricane Sandy landfall in the coming days.

The American Red Cross suggests stocking up on water, nonperishable food, medications, a first aid kit, flashlights, radios, extra batteries, extra cash and copies of important documents and contact information.

The New Hampshire Homeland Security Director Chris Pope said his office is already going through its hurricane checklist, following steps four days before landfall.
