MANCHESTER - A school board member and an alderman are moving ahead with plans for a series of parent tours of local schools, over the strong objections of Mayor Ted Gatsas.

"We as a district should not be parading parents through our schools. I wonder if there's going to be another alderman who wants to set up another tour next week because they missed yours," he said Tuesday night.

Gatsas raised concerns about the disruption parent visits would pose, and he questioned their value. Superintendent Thomas Brennan echoed some of these concerns.
