After 14 years of public service NH Attorney General resigns to return to private practice
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - New Hampshire Attorney General Michael Delaney says he will not comment on his future plans while he is still leading the Justice Department.
Delaney sent Gov. Maggie Hassan a letter Tuesday saying he plans to resign to return to private practice once his successor is in place.
Delaney tells The Associated Press it was his decision to leave after 14 years of public service and denied there was any pressure from the governor to leave so she could appoint her own attorney general.
Delaney said returning to private practice is the right decision for his family. His wife is also a lawyer and the couple has three children ranging in age from 9 to 13.
