It is National Police Week
Seacoastonline.com - Members of the Greenland Police Department received a warm welcome as they stepped off the plane at Reagan National Airport on Sunday to begin what is expected to be an emotional and powerful experience at National Police Week. Just inside the door as they left their plane, two rows of color guard officers from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol and Smithsonian Institution Office of Protection Services stood at attention and greeted members of the department with a salute. The Greenland Police Department is in the nation's capital this week to attend services dedicated to law enforcement officers who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty in 2012. Among the deceased is Greenland's own former police chief, Michael Maloney, who was killed during a drug raid gone bad April 12, 2012.
