18-year-old found atop mountain two days after walking away from rehab center
EFFINGHAM, N.H. (AP) - Authorities say it was a local hiker who found an 18-year-old woman atop a New Hampshire mountain, two days after she walked away from a neurological rehabilitation center.
New Hampshire Fish and Game officers said they got a call that Joelle Ferstenberg was found at about Tuesday near the summit of Green Mountain.
They say she walked away from Lakeview NeuroRehabilitation Center in Effingham Sunday afternoon.
Fish and Game conservation officers, the New England K-9 Search and Rescue and a state police helicopter searched for her.
Authorities say Ferstenberg was treated for mild hypothermia and carried off the mountain by rescuers and was taken to a hospital for evaluation. She's expected to be OK.
