Hassan and House leaders name representatives to Medicaid Panel
CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - Gov. Maggie Hassan and House leaders have named their appointments to a commission charged with studying expanded Medicaid to an estimated 58,000 poor adults.
Hassan appointed Jim Varnum, former president of Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital, to serve on the nine-member panel that is to issue its report Oct. 15.
Speaker Terie Norelli picked Dr. Travis Harker, plus Nashua Democrat Cindy Rosenwald, a member of the Finance Committee, and Dr. Tom Sherman, a Rye Democrat who works part time at Exeter Hospital.
House Republican Leader Gene Chandler picked Rep. Neal Kurk, a Weare Republican and former chair of the Finance Committee.
Senate President Peter Bragdon has yet to name two senators who will serve on the panel or a public appointment. Senate Democratic Leader Sylvia Larsen has one appointment to make.
